It depends: Lexapro (escitalopram) is not contraindicated in the elderly, nor is it contraindicated in people with alzheimers nor someone who is very thin. It would be important to have someone like this followed very regularly, preferably by a geriatric psychiatrist. If the cause for thinness is due to depression then treating the depression could actually help stimulate appetite.
