What is the definition or description of: large anterior fontanel?

The fontanels: represent points over which the growing skull plates will eventually close. Failure of the involved growth plates, those which meet at the front and top of the head, to grow to closure results in a large anterior fontanel. It is the soft spot on the top, front of an infant's head.
