Dominant: Positive is dominant over negative. You get one gene from each of your parents, so you are either --, -+, +-, or ++. Only in the case of -- will you have rh negative blood. With -+, +-, and ++, you will have rh positive blood. This makes rh positive blood the most common type of the two. This can be a problem with a baby: if mom is rh pos (+-), dad is rh neg (--), and baby is rh neg (--): attack!

Rh D : Rh blood group system consists of 50 defined blood-group antigens, among which the five antigens D, C, c, E, and e are the most important. If your blood has the Rh D antigen, it is called Rh-positive if not Rh-negative. More than 85% of people are Rh positive. Problems can occur during pregnancy when the baby’s blood has the Rh factor and the mother does not, unless Rhogam is given at delivery.
