Before assuming that: this is attention-seeking behavior, her pediatrician needs to make sure that a yeast infection, urinary tract infection or other medical problem isn't triggering the behavior. Beyond that, this site isn't designed to deal with complex behavioral issues. Assuming there's no medical explanation for this, you should consider a referral to a child psychologist. Dr. Anne.

Child guidance: I think you are correct to see this as a problem. Does er other parent agree? I'd get into a Child Guidance Clinic or other Family Therapy setting ASAP to keep it from becoming more difficult. Till you get in, try to calmly discover what her reasons to 'miss' you are about. Reassurance may help through one planned middle-night contact or photo or note. A trained Child Psych can eval and treat!
