Probably not herpes: Herpes doesn't cause things like this. Herpes lesions are superficial -- blisters, pimples, and sores that are sort of like "on" the skin. Boils, typical acne, etc well up from below; think of them as starting "in" the skin. This isn't a hard and fast rule, but a single large boil is never herpes. But see a doctor if you remain concerned and/or at risk for STDs. Good luck!

Not herpes: This may be a Bartholin gland lesion, a local follicle infection, or any of a variety of other possibilities. Herpes does not produce a hard lump. Your physician is your best guide.
