?pinched nerve: Chest discomfort on bending may be due to a hiatus hernia but, in your case especially if the pain is sharp, may be due to a pinched intercostal nerve which runs between 2 ribs. Similar pinching may occur with a deep breath,cough or with other movements of the rib cage. These often resolve without any treatment. See your MD if symptoms persist.
