Irritation?: When you remove the stone, some irritation would occur but I would expect this sensation to improve in about 48 hrs. If this is a recurrent problem. consult an ENT for possible tonsillectomy.

Surgery: You just did a surgical procedure on yourself. You have to expect some discomfort. If you did not remove all of the material, if you irritated the surrounding tissues, this is especially true. If your tonsils continue to be a problem, if they are swollen, if you have receptive sore throat or tonsillitis, it would be wise to be evaluated by an Otolaryngologist.
