Yes for a reason: Baclfen or opioid pump delivers medications into intrathecal space of spinal cord , small amount of medication is directly delivered , ideal to have a small (short ) catheter from pump to the space to have less of catheter problems , than longer catheters if pump unit is not in the back , located else where .
