Probably BV: Usually when there is a fishy odor, the condition is a bacterial overgrowth. In the vagina the overgrowth is called bacterial vaginosis. Menstruation can cause a pH imbalance which allows these undesirable bacteria to proliferate to unhealthy levels. One way to replenish the healthy bacteria is by taking a lactobacillus supplement.
