A member asked:

Can you inhale your saliva and be okay? i'm worried about getting secondary drowning from laughing and accidentally inhaling my saliva. i had a lot.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Aspiration of saliva: Aspiration pneumonia can occur after inhaling liquids. Symptoms would include persistent cough, shortness of breath, chest pain, wheezing, abnormal sputum, etc. Drowning from aspirating saliva would be unlikely.
