Likely temporary: working with someone knowledgeable about hand anatomy (or an online source) could help narrow down what structure is hurting. More with active movement? Then possibly tendonitis. More in a joint? then possibly due to inflammation of the joint. Begnning with a primary care practitioner is always a good idea. Osteopaths are often interested in such pains.
