Hard to say: There are many possibilities including bug bites (from land and sea), contact allergy, sun sensitivity and even a viral infection. Try topical hydrocortisone cream. If this does not help ,the condition worsens , or the problem lasts more than a few days, it would be a good idea to consult your doctor. Any new drug introduced within a couple of weeks prior to the trip may be a culprit too.

You can apply a: drying agent like calamine lotion or an anti-inflammatory cream like over-the-counter hydrocortisone directly to the spots. Diphenhydramine or other "allergy pills" may help as well, but they can be sedating. If these measures don't work or if the rash continues to get worse, you may need steroids, by mouth or as an injection. Hope this helps. Dr. Anne
