Only liquid food: A 3-month old baby eats only liquid food, called breast milk. If for some reason, the mother cannot produce breast milk, she can feed the baby a liquid food called baby formula. Solid foods, such as rice cereal mixed with formula or mixed with water, can be started at age 6 months... unless there is a special reason the doctor is asking for early use of rice cereal (such as in refluxing babies).
