Calf pain: It's best to have an examination by your physician to check for phlebitis especially if there's calf tenderness or swelling. Another possibility is calf pain that is actually due to referred pain from a bulging disc pressing on a nerve root in the spine and this discomfort may be accentuated by bearing down for bowel movements.
