About a week: Best to have it looked at by your family doctor if it is persistent, especially if it is one sided.

See doctor to decide: If you have no signs of a cold or flu and have a high fever and headache your sore throat is more likely to need antibiotics. A throat swab can also help decide whether antibiotics are needed. Otherwise most viral sore throats get better by themselves in about a week

Sore throat: There is time line, however if it is ongoing, one should see their GP. Sore throat can be bacterial , viral or secondary to more sinister pathology like cancers and can also be a result of a referred pain from another part of the head and neck. Blood tests may be required to looks for viral infection.
