A member asked:

Does a child with mild sagittal synostosis automatically need surgery? if no surgery is taken and it is mild with the childs head grow mostly normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Scaphocephaly?: Establishment of a plan of care should be determined by a craniofacial team. Coordination of care is the duty of your pediatrician. Surgical intervention prevents hypertension in the cranial vault and improves cosmetic appearance. 3-D CT will allow for animation for reconstruction thus helping to determine the need & timing of surgery. Baby should be evaluated by an experienced CF team ASAP
