A 33-year-old female asked:
What is the relation of calcium (blood level) and cortisol, or is there one?
1 doctor answer • 2 doctors weighed in
Family practice : Cortisol is produced in the adrenal cortex. It is known as the stress hormone. Higher levels in the morning with tapering off during the day. It lowers calcium absorption from the intestine. Therefor if you have too much cortisol then your bones can become brittle.
Created for people with ongoing healthcare needs but benefits everyone.
