Details matter: Tretinoin cream or gel? .025% .05%/ .01%? Exactly when applied? How much each application? Applied how long after washing? Any other agents applied? It is usually irritating at first but less irritating with continued use. The cream is less drying. Higher strengths are more irritating. Using a large amount is irritating. Use pea size or less. Wait 20 min after exposure to water. Use moisturizer.
