Asthma: If a child has a history of asthma, having a tight chest (older children can sometimes tell this ), or having difficulty breathing, then the child could have an asthma attack. However in the initial stages of wheezing, it is not possible for the parent to see the difference. So it is always good to see a physician who can auscultate the child's lungs and check for wheeze, if you suspect asthma.
