No: There is no way a contaminated needle gave you a germ that sat around for a year and then decided to infect you. Once it finds a way in, strep pneumonia will multiply fast enough to make you sick within 24 hrs.The germ is actually carried in the nasal airway at various times in normal people who never get sick from it.
