Omphalitis: Sometimes seborrheic dermatitis or psoriasis. Chronic omphalitis is most often a young male adult who has a hairy abdomen with a deep navel. Persistence of the embryonic urachus may pull the umbilicus in deep. The hairs have tiny barbs which make them stick deeply into the umbilicus where they are irritating.
