See answer: There are several possible explanations for why CTS symptoms are worse at night. Various positions during sleep will cause the wrist to be bent, which increases pressure in the carpel tunnel and on the median nerve. During REM sleep there is no movement of the body to foster the flow of lymphatic fluid. Pooling of this fluid in the carpel tunnel will increase pressure on the median nerve.
