Vaginosis: Your condition is an overgrowth of normal vaginal bacteria. It means your immune system is low, not enough to keep normal bacteria in check. Avoid sugar, artificial sweeteners, stress and anything that can decrease your immune system. Antiibiotics may me necessary and if repetitive, have your partner checked and possibly, treated.

Probiotics: Bacterial vaginosis occurs when the non-oxygen loving bacteria take over in the vagina and the good lactobacilli (primarily) are suppressed. Lactobacilli require a normal acidic environment and boric acid capsules can be used to help with this. Also taking a good probiotic to replenish the lactobacilli will help. Some people put plain active culture yogurt into the vagina.

Limit sugar: Additionally vulvar care is very important. No douching, no introduction of soaps or other cleaning agents between the labia. If you have heavy or long menses taking ocp's to shorten them or getting an ablation may help. Avoid tampons, use only presservative free cotton pads, and use cotton underwear exclusively. You may have to try several different probiotics before the right one for you.
