A member asked:

Respiratory acidosis. when does the pco2 become too high? i'm already at 60.1 mmhg (vbg), o2 sat. is 53.2%. stable or in need or treatment?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pulmonologist: These values are consistent with poor lung function and respiratory acidosis is likely. A pulmonologist should be involved in your care for diagnosis and treatment. Your low oxygen saturation would be treated with cautious use of low flow nasal oxygen to avoid further elevation (and retention of CO2) of your pCO2.
