That's the nature...: "That's the nature of the beast," as people say. It is just that way. Different germs have different ways of getting you. It depends on things like how well a germ survives in certain parts of one's body, how well they multiply there, how many there are, and then traits like how infectious or how contagious they are, how well our immune defenses are in various bodily parts, etc...
