3 categories: I would divide this into 3 categories. 1. Anatomical--you could have a polyp or fibroid in your uterus that is disrupting the lining and causing irregular bleeding. 2. Hormonal--you might not be making enough progesterone and your lining is breaking down early. Or if you're on any form of birth control pills spotting is common. 3. Pregnancy--check a pregnancy test as early bleeding is common.
