A member asked:

Hep c tested yesterday for routine matters. came back + low levels detected possible false +. did viral load and repeat hep c ab twice both neg. ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hep C testing: If your first test for Hep C was positive, then you had 2 negative tests- it's quite likely the first test was a 'false positive'. If you were infected, the antibody should be positive. PCR testing can be 'false positive' if there is a small amount of contamination when the lab test is run. Hopefully your doctor can take the time to explain - or you can upload the lab tests here for more review.
