Could by infected: This could be an eyelid infection or possibly a chalazion (sty). If infected it will usually also be very tender with discharge, and antibiotics may be necessary. Chalazia respond to warm compresses over the closed eye with or without antibiotic / anti-inflammatory eye ointment. Best treated by an ophthalmologist.
