Many options: There are multiple options. Hormonal treatments such as birth control pills, Progesterone treatments and the Mirena (levonorgestrel) iud are effective reversible treatments that will help many people. There is also a drug called Lysteda that contains no hormones which will help others. See an obgyn to see what might work for you.

There is: treatment for dysmenorrhea (painful periods) which essentially AVOIDS the pain rather than treating pain after it occurs. These include HORMONAL therapy. However first the REASON for the degree of symptoms must be determined and conditions which cause dysmenorrhea ruled out! (eg endometriosis) Hope this helps! Dr Z
