Not unusual.: If the chest pain follows belching, it is not unusual. It is probably related to acid refluxing into the esophagus (food tube) that was elevated by gas bubbles. Calcium carbonate tablets (Tums) or simethicone (Gas-X), or both, may help with symptoms.
