A member asked:

An allograft acl reconstruction what ares the risk of getting hepatitis and hiv and what precautions do surgeons do after this surgery e.g medication?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Before surgery: The tissue used to repair ACL is preserved before use. The donor is tested for HIV, hepatitis and other communicable agents and the tissue is not used if the tests are positive. Treatment for these infections in not given after using the tissue due to the vanishingly small risk.
