Is there an adhd medicine that you only have to take when you need it , instead of on a daily basis ?

Of course: Most of the adhd meds leave your system in much less than one day. This means it s ok to take them not necessarily in a daily basis (except if your dr ordered otherwise). If this wasn t true, you would find difficult to ever fall asleep, or feel hungry..Tons of kids stop the stimulants during the weekends, and this is ok and standard, not an exception.
