Dependent edema: (venous stasis) is the medical term for poor circulation in the veins. It can cause swelling, tightness & pain in the feet, ankles and calves. It seems to be more common in women than men and more common in women who are overweight. It's quite common in pregnant women in the 3rd trimester of pregnancy. If it's a real problem for you, please make an appt. with your GP. Best wishes. Dr. Anne.
