Not sure: An extreme allergic response could cause a large welt, and it could last a couple of days. If this is very old, though, it is possible it wasn't a mosquito but some other insect and it left a stinger inside you. If painful, it could be infected. You might want to have it examined to see if there is pus that needs to be released. Meanwhile, apply warm compresses for 15 mins 4x daily.
