The color: of the stool is dependent upon what you eat and the WATER content of the stool at various PORTIONS of your gut! The stool at the very end is darker because its DRYER. The sigmoid colon filled with DRY stool can often be felt in the left lower quadrant as a sausage shaped "mass"...Hope this helps! BTW sounds like you are a bit constipated TRY INCREASING YOUR WATER INTAKE! Hope this helps! Dr Z
