Tremor: Involuntary tremors can be caused by an overactive thyroid,certain medications, nicotine or other substances or by neurological disorder. One form of the latter is essential tremor that runs in the family. A neurologist is best qualified to evaluate, advise and treat you after nonneurological causes have been ruled out.
