Central (brain): versus peripheral. In nervousness, there has to be some psychological effect. Tremor there does not have to be. Many things cause hand tremor due to effects on the hands and the nerves going to them such as increased nerve reactivity (alcoholism, alcohol withdrawal, drugs). Familial tremor Decreased brain regulation of hands (parkinson's, alcoholism, vitamin deficiency, etc.).

Ritalin (methylphenidate): Stimulants can aggravate nerves as a side effect besides helping concentration. It can be a measure of how strong a dose someone is taking. Tremors are when nerve cells have lost their ability to shut off for resting phase and can be aggravated with targeted movement. Nervousness can trigger movement that looks like tremors but should calm down when nervousness improves.

Some similarities: It is true that when we are anxious or nervous we can have some shaking that is similar to a tremor. This type of shaking would only occur when you are feeling emotionally anxious. There are many types of neurological conditions that can cause tremors and this type of shaking may occur at any time whether you are anxious or not. See a neurologist if you have tremors to find the cause.

Many tremors are related to a neurologic response. Thyroid disease, some drug exposures/withdrwl can result in tremor like sxs. Oder patients, Parkinson's along with other conditions.
