My 4 year old's hair is thinning in places. not bald spots but disappearing. no clumping, not a hair puller, nor does she wear ponytails. what gives?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

DIFFUSE HAIRLOSS: Children may experience a transient or prolonged period of premature shedding of the hair resulting a diffuse areas of hair loss not associated with scarring, scaliness of scalp or abnormal behavior. In some cases hair loss maybe due to an underlying medical problem. Evaluation to seek for problems related to nutrition, stress, hormones, infection / inflammation is needed. Take care.
