I'm 5 days into taking antibiotics for my cold (3 per day, 500mg amoxicillin) and i don't feel any better, is there anything else i can do?

This will take a few weeks, usually. Continue to drink lots of fluids to loosen any secretions that you may have, and continue taking the antibiotic to complete the full course given to you.
