Balance issues: Meningitis may first look like a respiratory infection, or stomach flu, but within a couple of days, or sooner, fever, severe headache, sometimes vomiting, severe lethargy, disorientation, neck stiffness, and rash show up. A problem with balance may be part of it, but from how you describe your symptoms, you may have problems in the vestibular (inner ear) region. You should have it checked out.
