There aren't ...: Croup is commonly a childhood illness of barking cough, hoarse voice, noisy breathing (stridor). It is caused by viral infection of the larynx / trachea which causes swelling and the above symptoms. Diagnosis is clinical, there are no specific tests. More severe cases (noisy breathing, increased rate / work of breathing) should be assessed by Dr for consideration of oral steroid medication.
