A member asked:

What are the risk factors for foot problems?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Foot risk: Diabetes and smoking are the two big ones. Diabetes can give you neuropathy, a condition in which one has decreased feeling in their feet so they are prone to sores or "ulcers." Smoking can cause decreased circulation to the feet which can lead to gangrene. A diabetic patient who smokes is one of the most at risk patients for foot complications leading to possible limb amputation.
