If someone has a cold is it true that they are only contagious if they have a fever???

Not true: A cold is contagious from onset of the first symptoms (that initial discomfort in the throat or back of the nose), or even a day or two before that, until symptoms start to improve 4-5 days later. Fever has nothing to do with it.
