Can brain mri show if something were wrong with my jaw? or would you need imaging to that specific area?

Depends: In general, MRI is most useful for soft tissues while CT & X-ray are best to image hard tissues such as bone or calcified items of interest. Certainly parts of the jaw can be seen on MRI but it really depends what you're looking for as to whether it or other imaging are more indicated. Often radiologists will ask for both. Limitations: Brain MRI does not directly study jaw area and bone imaging is better evaluated via a CAT scan study.
