A member asked:

Is depression and anxiety typical in people with thyroid issues?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It can be.: Thyroid disturbances can cause both anxiety and depression. You may see anxiety more with an overactive thyroid, and depression with an underactive one,, but this is not always true. The best thing to do is to see your doctor for regular visits to check your thyroid function and adjust meds if needed. A psychiatrist can help for the anxiety & depression.
