Exam needed: Bright red Rectal bleeding is abnormal and must be evaluated. In your case it may be from hemorrhoids, but other possibilities include inflammation of the intestinal tract, diverticulosis or growths in the colon or rectum. Evaluation is not possible without an examination and evaluation by a physician. A simple rectal examination in the office is all that you may need for diagnosis and reassurance
