Further valuation write a hand specialist specifically an orthopedic surgeon would beof great benefit, of great benefit, radiographic imaging as well as MRI may be beneficial in helping to determine the cause, if necessary aspiration of the joint may be required to further delineate infection versus gout

The main thing is in: -fection, this would be an emergency. If no fever, the wrist is nor red or swollen, then the next 2 things 2 consider are tendinitis or gout, I've see more gout present this way than any other. With gout the wrest is red,painful, but now fever. Often misinterpreted as infection. Labs will show high uric acid. Aspirations will help if fluid can be gotten, & lab will see crystals. Need Dx as Rx diff
