Pregnancy: What you are describing is a normal part of pregnancy especially at 34 weeks. A contraction is when the uterus muscle contracts and the whole abdomen with get hard ("like a rock"). Cramping, vaginal pain, sharp shooting pain are normal discomforts of pregnancy but do not indicate labor. You could ask your doctor about physical therapy. Rest. And drink more water!
