Meds affect bones: Many meds affect the skeleton. Some drugs may thin the bones as an unwanted side effect (steroids such as cortisone and the anti-seizure meds are most famous for doing this). Also, smoking and longterm alcohol use thin the bones. But there are other meds we use specifically to build bone in people with osteoporosis. Bones are changing all the time, and are affected by what we put in our bodies.
