Pulling too much...: There are varying degrees of a pulled or strained muscle. The range is from mild to severe. The mild strains can sometimes be used immediately. The moderate degree ones may take several weeks and the severe may take months to heal. If the RICE protocol is not sufficient to relieve the symptoms, then evaluation by a physician is warranted.

Varies: It varies based upon the severity of the strain. That being said, if it is not significantly better over 10-14 days, consider being seen to make sure it is nothing more serious.
